Sacramental Preparation
Dates for the First Reconciliation and First Communion Reconciliation: In the fall, students prepare to experience the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The typical age for reception of this sacrament is about 7 years or second grade. Families determine if their children are ready to experience God’s love and forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Parents prepare their children for sacraments with the support of their classroom teachers. Parents who are registered parishioners or whose children attend Presentation School will be notified of meeting times, dates, etc. by mail. Information may also be obtain by request from the Religious Education Office. Children take part in the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to First Eucharist. There are two parents meetings held for formation and information on the practical aspects of home preparation. At least one parent must attend the sessions. A communal celebration of Reconciliation will be held in November for children and their families, but other options are available. Eucharist: In January, parish children begin preparation for celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Eucharist. There are three parents meetings to assist parents in preparing their children to receive this sacrament. The Sacrament of First Eucharist is celebrated during the Sunday liturgy between Easter and Pentecost. For older children sacramental preparation (baptism, reconciliation and Eucharist) is also available for older children through the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children, Please contact the Religious Education Office for more information at 251-1135.
